Why the President and Mike Vick are both idiots

Ok here is my problem with President Obama or anyone praising Mike Vick's "comeback", the fact that Vick never gave a dog a comeback! You see when the dogs lost the fight they were killed. No second chance for them. Now I am all for second chances for people, Vick could have been a productive member of society working construction or anything. But the welcome he got from the NFL and the praise he is getting now is disgusting. Here is an example of what life should be like for him, several weeks ago Vick was injured during a game and trotted off the field holding his arm/shoulder. Now for him to be hurting and in such pain, he was giving immediate medical treatment and rest. Now imagine instead at that point of being injured and in great pain 5 players from the opposing team or 5 crazy Eagles hating fans having the opportunity to hold him down and beat him into further pain until he blacked out. You see that's the kind of treatment his dogs got. After being beaten and exhausted from a dog fight, the dogs were further beaten, held under water to drown, hung from trees or simply buried alive. Their second chance...only in the afterlife. So before the President, NFL or any other idiot praises Vick for his "comeback" they really should realize the hatred and mentality it takes for a person to do such acts to dogs. I mean they are domesticated animals, not wild crazed beasts. And for me to ever have any type of respect for Vick, I would have to see him get beaten to near death after already being hurt and exhausted from a rough game. It's time to hold off the praise, recognize he is talented but should have never been given the chance to make millions doing what he loves so much.

News, history and child's education

The next time one of your kids or students ask why they have to learn history and that it does not apply to us today, you can show them the news from today. The headlines read "Holocaust Fund and victims defrauded by criminals", "Costa Rica and Nicaragua continue two century-old border dispute" and "Texas Supreme Court upholds land grants from the Republic of Texas circa 1840". Although these items might not impact everyone it is significant that the actions from the past can still affect people today.

2010 election

ok people we are to begin a new era in politics, again, this time under Republican (Repub or simply R) rule. I urge my fellow Democrats (Dems or D) to hold steady and keep your head up. It was a rather shocking victory however I tend to admire the skill of these Repubs and the behind the scene planning. Not so much taking the House of Reps in Congress but rather the 10 state Governor spots during a redistricting year! Great job however as we have scene and as was done in my home state of Texas, districts can be "fixed" at any time. So not to worry too much about that and the fact that these crazy "Tea Party" (TP) movement people will nominate anyone to topple Repub candidates. I'm kind of excited to see what the next two years bring. The TP movement will die down once reality sets in, but from a press release today I'm encourage about the openness suggested. Here is a portion of the Repub "Pledge to America" I read about today: all legislation will be posted on internet 3 days before a vote; every bill will be required to cite Congress' Constitutional authority to enact the new law (if I read that correctly); new rules make it harder to spend and easier to cut ( can't wait for this one), and NO unrelated legislation on any "comprehensive" or "omnibus" bills. My concern is how many people will actually read these bills and be able to understand. and even if they do, what if they oppose the measure? Will the Repubs think twice and not pass the bill? Of course not. And given the fact that only 37% of voters in Texas actually voted the interest seems pretty low. I hope for the best and look forward to how long this openness will last and how long the TP movement will be able to stick around.
