Can you hear the THUNDER?! Portis story gets bigger

Not only is this story getting bigger and Portis, Samuels, the Redskins organization, and the NFL trying to cover his ass and their own, but I now see where Portis himself claimed that police and judges in Mississippi are a part of dog fighting in that state. He claims to have first hand knowledge of the dogs fighting and people involved. Of course now he is trying to save his sponsors and the Washington Redskins organization by saying he does not approve of dog fighting, but just the other day, in his own words, he did not have a problem with it. Too late Portis! This story will not die. Its time to put an end to dogfighting and get those involved brought to justice! For those who know players in the NFL or NBA or any other "professional" sport now is the time to come forward. How can we call them "professionals" and pay them millions in salary and endorsements and yet they completely disregard the law. Its time to put an end to this hypocrisy! Its time to put pressure on the sponsors, the teams and the "professional" leagues that so often look the other way. The US Humane Society and other national animal groups need to set up a dog fighting tip line so that people can report all cases to the proper authorities. And if local police are involved, as Clinton Portis claims, then the FBI or other federal agencies will need to get involved.

Clinton Portis quote:
"I know a lot of back roads that got a dog fight if you want to go see it. But they're not bothering those people because those people are not big names. I'm sure there's some police got some dogs that are fighting them, some judges got dogs and everything else."

Who is more intelligent: Clinton Portis or African Ape?

In case you missed it professional football player and current Washington Redskin Clinton Portis suggested people mind their own business and leave the criminal Michael Vick alone regarding the illegal dog fighting issue. Apparently Portis does not think its a big deal and claims "its his (Vick's) dog." Portis went on to say he's from an area where he "knows a lot of back roads and can take you to dog fights." He seemed to be quite surprised when the reporter told him its a felony. He shrugged it off as so what, stating "what people do in the privacy of their own homes is their business." Sounds like somebody else needs to be investigated for illegal activity at his home. What the hell is he doing "behind closed doors"? This guy's lack of intelligence is shocking. And is companion Chris Samuels was no better laughing about the issue the entire interview. Just goes to show people its best to stay in college, get an education, or you can end up like these two idiots.

Monica Goodling's immunity doc, atty question

Below is the link for the immunity document for Monica Goodling, but as I asked in a previous post we still do not know who was paying for her high priced lawyer. So she is off the hook as far as her dealing on this matter but conspiracy theorist can still probe into who was covering her expenses and why. Maybe someone on the senate committee can find out the truth and the answers we are all searching for on her involvement and all the cover ups.

Vick should be suspended, then prosecuted

In a report today on ESPN.com two more witnesses, "friends" of Michael Vick have stated that he knew of the dog fighting going on at his Virginia home and even has an "affinity" for it. I can understand the position of the new head football coach for the Atlanta Falcons, he is new to Vick but he should not be new to the system. He should be aware of the lies. Michael Vick has all but confessed to these acts, which as noted in the ESPN piece are illegal in almost every state including Virginia and Georgia. Therefore Vick should be suspended while the investigation finishes. The team wants to wait but it will be delaying the final result. Vick is guilty of illegal dog fighting and animal abuse and should serve significant jail time. Sure now he is sorry. Now he wants to change his ways. He won't be hanging out with the same people, he says. But it is always after the fact that these soulful feelings come to light. Its too late. He was a part of this activity, owned the property and no doubt participated. Suspend him now and prosecute soon. Micheal Vick's career is over and Atlanta should have drafted another QB in the recent draft.

If you love horses in Texas write today!

If you live in Texas and love animals, especially horses, then you need to write your STATE SENATOR today. The Criminal Justice committee in the Texas Senate now has the power to review and alter HB 2328. This important House Bill was passed by the Texas House of Reps but unfortunately several damaging amendments were added to it. Write or call your Texas Senator and ask to change the bill back protect horses and clarify stray dogs and feral cats as animals to be protected from cruelty. Horses have been protected since 1995 but now the legislature wants to change that and lower their status of protection. We cannot allow this to happen. Please take action, do your part and help the horses and stray animals of Texas today!

The members of the committee are:
Senator John Whitmire, Sen. Kelton Seliger, Sen. John Carona, Sen. Bob Deuell, Sen. Rodney Ellis, Sen. Juan Hinojosa

For more on this legislation or find your state senator click here.

For more you can do or if you live out of Texas click here to help (ASPCA).

Why does everyone hate Paris Hilton?

I really don't understand why everyone hates Paris. I think she is beautiful and although she may be over exposed, in more ways than one, she has worked hard and really made a name for herself. She is a common household name and anyone who is in the marketing or public relations biz can learn a thing or two from her. Well regardless of where you stand I thought you might be interested in these documents. Those of us who like her will be sad to see her go. Those of you who continue to hate can enjoy this information. As a Texan with moderate political views I think its a waste of space in the jail. Many more serious offenders can be in there. Yes she probably needs help with her drinking but there are better ways to sober up a person rather than toss her in jail. She can do more good out of jail.

Paris Hilton ordered to jail

Paris Hilton gets 45 days in jail in California starting June 5. Personally I think this is a waste of jail space. I like Paris and I do not want rich people to be above the law but as someone stated on CNN she could have been given house arrest or some other punishment just as severe. Being placed in a California jail is very harsh for her crime. Courts are too easy on other more serious offenders.

My Missouri friends help keep horses protected

To my friends in Missouri you need to take action to help stop legislation that will remove protection for large animals such as horses. Living here in Texas I have seen and heard of many cases of abuse on animals especially horses. We have fought hard down here to stop it. Now we need your help to protect horses in your area. According to the ASPCA, HB 46 would cease impounding large animals involved in abuse. Unfortunately this bill has passed the house and has passed one committee reading in the senate. NOW is the time to stop it cold! Contact your state senators and ask them to oppose HB 46 sponsored by Rep. Jim Viebrock. We cannot afford to have any animals removed from cruelty law protections. Please do your part, take action today!

CNBC: NewsCorp makes bid for Dow Jones

According to CNBC, NewsCorp the owner of Fox News and MySpace.com has made an unsolicited bid for Dow Jones Publishing Company, owner of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). This very unusual move does make sense due to the fact that Fox News is coming out with a business channel on t.v. later this year. Although the WSJ is quite conservative and pro-business now I can only imagine what it will be like under the ownership and control of Fox and Mr. Murdoch. Of course my biggest concern is that fact that Liberty Media who owned a nice size stake in the company sold out to NewsCorp in exchange for DirecTv. This was a HUGE mistake and we now see why. Mergers are happening more and more. Here are a few ideas for mergers I have (I have no idea whether any of these companies are talking or not but just my personal point of view as to who should be together): Viacom and PlanetOut.com - Viacom thru their MTV networks runs a gay and lesbian channel so it would make sense that they increase their viewership by buying the biggest online gay/lesbian web site; The most obvious merger would be ATT and Yahoo - already running their joint broadband services and for so long the name has just sounded right; After buying Yahoo, ATT should then look at Echostar - need additional distribution channels for services and already partnered it only makes sense; Google and Ebay - Ebay has suffered over the years although recently may be on a small comeback, however Google's only somewhat failure is Froogle, so by adding a auction/shopping site it would have total domination. Although completely unlikely due to the owners of Ebay owning too much of Ebay and gov't regulation, it was still worth mentioning; Finally a couple of food companies, first in my home town we have a Starbucks and Krispy Kreme (KKD) side by side to each other. Starbucks is huge and big enough to buy them with spare change. Although KKD has made some comeback the past year their stock is still half what it once was, coffee and donuts anyone? and the my favorite is Campbell Soup and McCormick spices - Campbell's has a small spice subsidiary but you would never know it and McMomick needs a broader range of products, it only makes sense to me.
Full disclosure: I own stock in all these companies except Echostar Dow Jones;(and just a tiny amount of stock in McCormick and Viacom).
