New updates on pet food recall, new dry foods added

According to the Wall Street Journal a second pet food ingredient is found to be contaminated and this has led to the Natural Balance food recall. The chemical, melamine, an industrial chemical that led to a nationwide recall of more than 100 brands of cat and dog foods has been found to contaminate a second pet food ingredient, rice protein concentrate. Now Natural Balance, Pacoima, CA, is issuing a nationwide recall for all of its Venison dog products and the dry Venison cat food, regardless of date codes. This new recall was issued by the FDA today. The products are packaged in bags, cans and zip lock treat bags and sold in pet specialty stores and PetCo nationally.
