Come on Texas!

To all my fellow Texans I was horrified to learn that 2 state politicians want to pass a law allowing for the slaughter of horses. How can this be? In the year 2007 we have nothing more to worry about than the killing of innocent horses for human consumption overseas. These 2 politicians, beholden to the horse meat industry, want to pass legislation that a majority of Texans and Americans are against. The US Congress voted last year to outlaw this practice however it has not become law as of yet. Please contact your state reps here in Texas and tell them you are against this ridiculous practice. We do not eat horse meat in Texas or anywhere in America. Its wrong!

This is from the US Humane Society:
Each year almost 100,000 horses are slaughtered in the United States for diners in Europe and Japan. These riding, race, and carriage horses are in good condition but are bought at auction by killer buyers and transported from all over the country to Texas and Illinois for slaughter. Many were stolen and sent to auction so their former owners are often totally unaware of the pain, fear and suffering their horses endure before being slaughtered.
